Flood VR - Water always wins

I was approached by Pixel Farm and Robertson + Partners to provide illustration and design for a VR project about the dangers of floodwater. This interactive experience begins with a montage of illustrations, featuring two best friends, recent graduates on a road trip around the country before heading off to their respective colleges.

The montage of images shown early in the experience are warm, colorful, and hopeful. We wanted to evoke nostalgia for that classic road trip adventure. A coming-of-age tale about two people ready to take on the world.

It isn’t until their way home that the pair attempt to drive through a flooded intersection in the outskirts of Las Vegas. That’s when their sun-filled, euphoric, risk-filled trip takes a sharp turn. The sky turns grey, It’s murky and clouded as the floodwaters rise above their heads. Eventually, as they approach their near death experience, everything goes dark.
